Some employers are warning against "heavy-handed" efforts to regulate the use of non-compete clauses, while other parties say a ban is appropriate for employees unless they're high-income earners or holding senior roles.
In August last year, the Federal Government announced non-compete clauses and other restraints would be considered by the Competition Review, which is tasked with providing advice on improving competition across the economy.
Assistant Minister for Competition Andrew Leigh launched the Review's issues paper earlier this year, noting the non-compete clause is "the bluntest tool in the shed", and its prevalence is "harming job mobility, innovation and wages growth"...
