Many of the best senior teams have been built on real trust, shared goals and strong connections, but sometimes leaders need help finding their "other half", an energy and wellbeing specialist says.
In his book Energised, Tim Jack Adams, who founded the wellbeing framework GreenX7, notes that some people find themselves spending more time with their colleagues than with their own family, and can benefit richly from nurturing those relationships so those people become friends.
It can be lonely at the top, but it doesn't have to be, Adams explains. He lists various successful duos, from Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak to Phil Jackson and Michael Jordan, whose relationships "were built on real trust, shared goals and the kind of connection that grows through the highs and the hard times".
Adams then asks how leaders can find their "other half" – "the one who balances you, challenges you, and helps carry the load"...
