Failure rates are high when it comes to implementing AI in workplaces, but taking a wait-and-see approach is just as risky for employers, an innovation specialist says.
Dr Kim Oosthuizen, the head of AI at SAP ANZ, says introducing AI is a must for HR, however it can't be an "add-on" that sits apart from existing processes, but rather an integrated component.
Oosthuizen notes that only about a third of organisations "are skilled and set up to implement AI", and that failure rates are high – up to 70–80%, some research suggests.
Nonetheless, avoiding or delaying AI implementation due to uncertainty "is not the right strategy to follow, because you could miss out on a competitive advantage", she tells HR Daily...
