Budget restraints are driving up burnout rates among employees, according to an experienced talent leader, who warns it's a key leadership blind spot.

Multiple factors are at play, Parity Consulting founder Victoria Butt tells HR Daily, but they boil down to employees feeling overworked, in an environment where uncertainty about AI is adding to their stress, at the same time as driving employers' hiring reluctance.

According to Parity's latest salary and market insights research, employees say burnout is the biggest issue their leaders are ignoring; it was cited by 34% of the survey's 3,500 respondents. (These employees mostly work in product, digital, data and transformation roles, however Butt considers this is a "transitional market challenge", being faced by all industries.)
