Candidate fraud "ramping up" complexity of hiring

The vast majority (89%) of organisations are experiencing candidate fraud or misrepresentation, making recruitment more complex at a time when it should be becoming simpler, new data shows.

Candidate fraud most commonly occurs in the form of "embellishment", primarily in CVs or job applications, followed by reference checks, according to a survey of 244 talent teams in Australian and New Zealand, conducted by ATC Events & Media.

It's "absolutely" on the rise, ATC director Jo Vohland tells HR Daily. Anecdotally, tech companies are among the most targeted, but any organisations hiring remotely, and particularly where the talent is located overseas, face a higher incidence.
