Complex workplace matters often involve "intense emotions", and it's important for HR not to overlook these in the parties, and themselves, when striving for resolution, according to a workplace relations specialist.
In recent conversations with HR practitioners, highlighting the importance of allowing space for emotions when dealing with workplace matters has prompted a lot of positive feedback, Humanify HR Consulting managing director Sarah Queenan tells HR Daily.
"Particularly in a conflict scenario or dispute scenario, only 20% of it is about the legal or technical policy process," she explains.
"The other 80% of it is often about the emotions of the parties. The emotions are driving their decision making and the way that they're approaching different things"...
