Many organisations are rebranding their DEI efforts to avoid controversy, but a workplace lawyer says this is the wrong approach, and it's never been more important to champion inclusion.

In her upcoming book, Rise Up, Fay Calderone refers to reports that in the United States, since the appointment of the Trump administration, some organisations are scaling back their DEI efforts.

But she stresses that "reducing inclusion increases risk instead of eliminating it".

"Prominent brands face pressure to pause or roll back DEI initiatives due to political, legal and cultural scrutiny. The real danger, however, lies in stepping away from DEI."
