A Fair Work Commission member has expressed an opinion that an employee "simply does not want to work in the office", in questioning his reasons for seeking to work from home full time.
Deputy President Alan Colman expressed the view yesterday after a hearing dealing with the employee's dispute under section 65B of the Fair Work Act, after Make it Mine Finance rejected his request to work from home on a full-time basis.
The circumstances the employee relied on in making his request were that he was a carer who sometimes needed to drive his child to daycare, and he had a disability (namely PTSD from a 2007 car accident) that caused him to experience flashbacks when travelling by car, particularly if he was not the driver...
