Employees are now expected to complete an unprecedented volume of compliance training, but a new approach that takes prior knowledge into account could cut learning times by 75%, a specialist says.

Compliance training has a "pretty bad reputation", according to the founder and CEO of compliance management platform Safetrac, Deborah Coram.

Some is poorly presented, some is boring, and some is irrelevant, so it's not surprising it ends up being "something that people dread", she tells HR Daily.

Further, a "huge increase" in workplace laws and regulations have led to an "onslaught" that makes it even more time-consuming. (Ten years ago, an organisation might have run eight core compliance courses; now it's "more like 20", Coram says.)

The problem is exacerbated when training doesn't take an individual's role into account, which makes them even more disengaged...
