Employer ordered to match site rates under first SJSP order

The Fair Work Commission has issued its first 'same job, same pay' order, which will potentially result in pay rises of up to $20k for covered workers.

The regulated labour hire arrangement (RLHA) order, issued late yesterday, will cover WorkPac employees supplied to the Batchfire Callide Management open-cut coal mine in Biloela, Queensland. WorkPac currently supplies about 324 production workers to the mine.

According to the Mining & Energy Union, which brought the application under the Fair Work Act's new 'same job, same pay' (SJSP) laws, WorkPac employees at the mine generally receive between $10k–20k less per year than Batchfire's direct employees...
