EVPs ignoring "absolutely crucial" employee concerns

Only 1% of EVPs discuss mature-age employment pathways, but given Australia's ageing workforce, it's an "absolutely crucial" concern, a branding expert says.

The average age in Australia is now 39, and many employees have mortgages they won't pay off until their 60s, Peak Corporate Solutions director Malcolm Peak tells HR Daily.

People are worrying about how long they'll have to work to live off their super, and seeing AI continue to change the face of the labour market, he says.

But his company's 2024 market research, involving 248 organisations across 13 industries, shows only 13% talk about building future skills in their EVP messaging, only 21% demonstrate being future-focused, and only 1% refer to mature-age employment pathways...
