Genuineness of redundancy hinges on employer's need for job, not duties

An employer's decision to create a new role to absorb an employee's duties didn't mean her redundancy wasn't genuine, the Fair Work Commission has found.

The company no longer required the employee's job to be done by anyone, Deputy President Alan Colman accepted, even though her work was still being performed.
