"Humanity and connection" lacking in workplace wellbeing efforts
More organisations are taking psychosocial safety seriously, but not enough are taking the "next step" beyond regulatory compliance, according to the CEO of Beyond Blue.
Speaking at the recent Sonder Summit, Georgie Harman said that when she started in her role, she "literally had to beg to be invited to boardrooms", whereas now she can "beat people off with a stick".
"Everybody wants to understand what they need to do, which is really big. But what I fear is happening too often, is that we're driving a compliance agenda as opposed to [creating] the conditions and cultures that help people to be their best," she said, in an interview with Sonder CEO Craig Cowdrey.
"Regulation is what any of us should be doing as good employers... It's taking it to the next step, which is about humanity and connection, that I don't hear enough about..."
