It's time for HR to "tell the emperor he's not wearing clothes"

One of HR's most important tasks is to help leaders understand how they're perceived by others, but the risk of causing "great offence" means it's falling by the wayside, a leadership authority says.

"I don't blame [HR]; I'm in HR and I think it's one of the most challenging things for anyone to do, because it's like biting the hand that feeds you," says The Change Company director Paul Donovan.

No one wants to "tell the emperor that they've got no clothes on" and risk creating "great offence", he tells HR Daily.

But because leaders are under enormous pressure, as so much is expected of them, they do need to receive data on how they are experienced...
