Moving a workforce from "busy" to value-adding; WFH award term update

Leaders and employees alike tend to be good at being busy, "but that doesn't necessarily deliver value", a leadership specialist says. Meanwhile, feedback is open on the next phase of the FWC's project to draft a modern award WFH term.

"The job of the leader is to refocus the gaze on value-adding work and to ensure that people continually hold that in focus, no matter how tempted we are to avoid work," says Richard Wilson, a director at business advisory Bendelta.

Wilson is not suggesting that when employees avoid work, they do no work, he stresses.

"I mean they avoid the real work, which is often the stuff that's really difficult for us to start in the morning...
