One "standout" discipline amid declining HR demand
Fewer jobs are being advertised for HR generalists and consultants, but for workplace relations practitioners, a clear trajectory of sustained demand lies ahead, specialist recruiters say.
The Next Step's latest HR Job Opportunities Index, charting the three months to May 2026, shows that demand for workplace relations expertise grew by 24.1%, and has increased 38.9% year-on-year.
The only other category of HR roles to record growth was health safety and environment, which was up 6.5%.
