"Predatory" CEO and vicariously liable employer to pay employee $70k
An employer and its CEO have been ordered to pay more than $70k in damages, after the latter s-xually harassed an employee 40 years his junior.
The CEO's conduct was "predatory and grooming", and there was no evidence that the employer took any reasonable precautions to prevent it, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal Member Stuart Webb said.
As reported by HR Daily in July, the Tribunal found the CEO of Spanish Doughnuts Franchising had "engaged in grooming behaviour, seeking to influence a young woman 40 years his junior with promises of benefits and monetary bonuses".
"He sought to isolate her from her peers, creating unnecessary meetings or meetings that could be held remotely required to be held one on one at his office..."
