As the Fair Work Commission considers submissions on the inclusion of a working-from-home clause in modern awards, pressure is mounting for this type of flexible arrangement to be formalised at a broader level.
This week, the Commission is conducting final hearings as part of its work to develop a WFH term for the Clerks Award.
Those scheduled to appear included senior researcher at the Centre for Future Work, Lisa Heap, however she instead submitted a 56-page statement.
In it, Heap argues there is strong, consistent evidence that working from home, especially as part of hybrid arrangements, delivers significant benefits to workers and employers, while "there is no good evidence for perceived productivity losses, cited by some employers, arising from employees working from home"...
