Psychosocial complaints rising amid cost-of-living pressures

Australian organisations are seeing an overall increase in claims or complaints related to psychosocial hazards, new research shows.

According to AHRI's latest Quarterly Australian Work Outlook, based on survey responses from more than 600 senior HR professionals, 38% of employers have experienced an increase in these complaints and claims, while only 13% have seen them decrease.

The two most frequent factors in complaints are job demands (30%) and conflict or poor workplace relationships and interactions (23%). These are followed by remote or isolated work, lack of role clarity, and inadequate reward and recognition (all 21%).
