Public sector employers are outperforming the private sector on key gender equality measures, new data from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) confirms.
Released by WGEA for the first time today, the 2023 data for 120 Commonwealth public sector employers and two government-owned corporate groups shows the average total remuneration gender pay gap in the Commonwealth public sector is 6.4% (meaning women earn 94ยข for every $1 men earn). This is significantly lower than the private sector gap of 21.1%.
