Many post-pandemic policies have broken the psychological contracts that exist between workplaces and employees, but they can be repaired, according to a global leadership expert.
In his paper on the dynamics and complexities of return-to-office policies, University of Colorado distinguished professor emeritus Wayne Cascio says that when it comes to psychological contracts and employment terms and conditions, disagreements over what each party owes the other "frequently" occur.
Regarding post-pandemic return-to-office (RTO) policies specifically, Cascio notes that many employees "believed they had proven their ability to work effectively from home and had reorganised their lives around that belief".
Therefore, they were left feeling "betrayed" when the terms changed, particularly in cases where a return was mandated...
