Poor perceptions of an HR function sometimes have no foundation in its performance, so the solution lies in reframing its achievements, according to an advisor.
Asked in a recent HR Daily Premium webinar what steps to take when an HR function has low organisational influence, Gartner HR practice senior director, advisory Robin Boomer said: "It depends on what level we're trying to make that shift."
He notes that in most organisations, many people have "very few interactions with HR, and so we don't get very many bites of the apple".
But what Gartner has found in recent years is that the biggest difference between average and exceptional perceptions of the HR function and the employee experience comes from "shaping the experience and really shaping the perceptions of stakeholders"...
