It should become mandatory for employers to consult with workers before introducing new artificial intelligence tools, according to the ACTU.
Ahead of next month's roundtable in Canberra, the Council says it will call for a new set of mandatory and enforceable 'AI implementation agreements'.
These would require employers to give employees guarantees regarding: job security; skills development and retraining; transparency around technology use; and data privacy and collection.
According to the ACTU, the agreements would also need the backing of a new National AI Authority and a national Artificial Intelligence Act – with a regulator resourced to support them – to ensure Australia's laws keep pace with technological changes...
