An employer that raised performance concerns with an employee on multiple occasions has failed to defend its decision to sack him, with the Fair Work Commission finding the issues weren't "overly serious".
The floor manager for Komeyui Management, which runs a Japanese restaurant in Brisbane, was sacked in October last year, on the basis of performance issues that had been "consistently raised" with him during his 10-month tenure.
The termination letter alleged the employee: had ongoing issues using the booking schedule and system; failed to properly share relevant information with team members; engaged in inappropriate communication; was unable to resolve issues that should have been within his "scope"; wasn't trusted by staff; and wasn't adequately resolving late service issues...
