Workplace adjustments require both transparency and confidentiality

Perceived unfairness is one of the key challenges that can arise when providing workplace adjustments for neurodiverse employees, a mental health expert says.

Respecting confidentiality must be paramount, says Centre for Corporate Health national director of psychological services Rachel Clements, in 'Part 2' of a new HR Daily Premium webcast.

But employers also need to be transparent about how decisions are made, so the rest of the workforce understands adjustments are based on legitimate workplace considerations, and that performance expectations remain in place.

"When people don't understand how accommodations or adjustments are considered... they can fill those gaps with their own misinformed interpretations," Clements says...
