Adding perks is great, but removing work is better

Employers often seek to reduce burnout risks by offering new wellness perks, but if employees already have too much on their plates, HR should think twice before adding more, a thought leader says.

The tendency for employers to think the answer lies in providing mindfulness apps, exercise classes and the like has been a "bugbear" of work futurist Dr Ben Hamer for a while, he tells HR Daily.

"We always try and add things rather than take things off people. When we try to address burnout, organisations address it by going: here's a fruit bowl, here's a yoga class, here's a subscription to Headspace...
