AI will drive talent acquisition, but with greater scrutiny

The adoption of AI-based talent acquisition platforms will bring "very deep efficiency improvements" to employers' hiring processes, but also much greater scrutiny, says the global chief of a recruitment software specialist.

SmartRecruiters CEO Rebecca Carr notes that talent acquisition teams in leading economies have faced headcount reductions of up to 50% in recent years, so hiring managers are desperate to improve efficiency, and do more with fewer resources.

But while AI represents a "seismic shift" in recruitment, Carr says a key issue is greater scrutiny, both from regulators, and prospective and current employees.

"It's an interesting topic, because I think people are excited about what AI can bring and do for their organisation, but it also has a little bit of a dark cloud over it," she says...
