Alternative role was "acceptable" despite employee's preference for more flexibility

A role with less flexible working arrangements was still an "objectively acceptable" redeployment opportunity, the Fair Work Commission has ruled.

Commissioner Chris Simpson noted the employee had "no formal entitlement" to a remote-working arrangement, in deciding to vary her redundancy payout.

Mater Misericordiae Ltd had applied to the Commission to reduce the curriculum design educator's redundancy pay from $18,700 to nil, on the basis she had rejected its offer of a suitable alternative position...
