Better communication would help avoid "misinterpreted" comments

An employee with an "apparent fixation" on the changing gender balance of his workplace has failed to block disciplinary action after colleagues complained about his behaviour.

After working for 32 years in food services at a West Moreton Hospital and Health Service facility, the cook/supervisor was suspended on full pay in May 2022 after several female subordinates alleged that he had acted inappropriately.

They complained that he had: spoken sarcastically and aggressively towards a colleague; inappropriately said to another, "I am surprised you aren't pregnant by now"; and unnecessarily touched another female employee.

The employee denied all the allegations, but an internal investigation found that the incidents were "likely to have occurred" and were, as a result, substantiated on the balance of probabilities...
