Compliance training engagement requires more carrot, less stick

The words "compliance training" often elicit groans from employees, but by making learning more relevant, gamifying certain aspects, and connecting it to the organisation's values, HR can make it engaging, effective, and even "exciting", a specialist says.

Deborah Coram, founder and CEO of compliance management platform Safetrac, says she has seen numerous organisations try to ensure all employees complete the necessary compliance training by using the "stick" approach.

The biggest stick is, "If you haven't got your compliance training done by a certain date, you get cut off from the network", she tells HR Daily. "And that rule is laid out to everyone across the organisation, including senior management."

This usually gets the training done, she says, but it makes people hate the process even more...
