Crawl, walk, run towards strategic workforce planning

Strategic workforce planning is a top-five HR priority for the year ahead, but few organisations have mastered it, and many still don't know where to start, according to a specialist in the field.

This topic has "jumped up quite a bit", to number three on the list of HR priorities, says Gartner HR advisory director Neal Woolrich.

At present, however, he estimates only about 15% of organisations are actually doing it. In Gartner's research, 66% of the 1,400 respondents said their workforce planning is limited to headcount planning, and they struggle to demonstrate ROI for strategic workforce planning efforts...
