Criticism in group chats created "divisive atmosphere"

Criticising managers in work group chats created a "divisive atmosphere", the Fair Work Commission has found in rejecting a supervisor's unfair dismissal claim.

In August last year, managers of The Dolphin Hotel met with the bar supervisor to discuss a recent change in her behaviour and customer complaints against her.

They alleged she would: take breaks during peak service times; tell other staff they could go on breaks at inappropriate times; close the bar without approval; and arrive late to her shifts.

The supervisor admitted she wasn't enjoying work as much as she used to, but said she still wanted to work for the employer and committed to improving her customer interactions...
