Director's "unreasonably expressed hostility" was due to employee's race

One of the main reasons an employee experienced "unreasonable" hostility at work was because of his race, a tribunal has accepted in awarding him $25k for direct discrimination.

NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal Senior Member Robert Dubler and General Member Jillian Herberte said that while the discrimination occurred over a short period of time "it was not trivial", and it caused the employee "significant" pain and suffering.

The employee, who was of Spanish descent, claimed he experienced racial discrimination during his employment with Tiglin Constructions, when others made "disturbing" comments about him, and when he was dismissed in February 2024...
