Dismissal upheld for employee who didn't "feel" impaired

An employee who felt stressed and anxious while suspended from work made the "unfortunate decision" to "take the edge off" with cocaine, the Fair Work Commission has accepted, in upholding his dismissal for failing a D&A test.

In June 2023, the Queensland Rail Transit Authority protection officer was suspended after he removed sensitive documentation from the workplace, and failed to speed its return, while participating in protected industrial action.
