Dismissed employee wasn't afforded "basic standards of decency"

In calling out an employer for failing to consult an employee about her redundancy, the Fair Work Commission has stressed the importance of having "some form of 'keeping in touch' system" during parental leave.

Commissioner Benjamin Redford said maintaining contact, "even at a basic level", can avoid the "miscommunication or misapprehension" that occurred in this case.
