Employee voice a major factor in workplace giving buy-in

An organisation with a thriving CSR program credits its success to an employee-run committee, which ensures the charities it supports reflect the causes its people care about most.

Wilson Security's GM of Comcare, welfare and CSR Beti Dafovski says the goal is to select charities that align with one of four focus areas – mental health, domestic violence, family support and local communities – and with the causes that matter most to its employees.

She attributes the variety of charities Wilson supports to the diversity of its almost 7,000 staff, and last year employees participated in numerous fundraising and awareness-raising events. Specifically, "Team Wilson" donated clothing and blankets by the bagful, raised more than $370,000 in cash, and gave away more than 180kg of food in the process...
