Employer "torn" between retaining key clients and confronting bully

An employer must put in place new anti-bullying measures and keep two senior employees apart, after it found itself caught between retaining a "key employee" and its commitment to a bullied CFO.

The stop-bullying orders were sought by the CFO, who claimed that after her employer Winfer Protection (trading as SAI Security) acquired another business (Bluestar Security), and absorbed its employees, she had been subjected to "relentless bullying and harassment" from the latter company's general manager.

Fair Work Commission Deputy President Theresa Dobson heard that this behaviour included: constantly questioning the CFO's capabilities; hostile and demanding phone calls and emails; attempting to change the organisation structure; repeatedly attempting to have the CFO report to the GM instead of the business owner; and giving the CFO demanding work with unachievable deadlines.

The Deputy President accepted the impacts on the CFO were "harmful, deeply distressing, humiliating, intimidating and far reaching"..
