Employer urged to address absenteeism to avoid bullying complaints

The Fair Work Commission has highlighted that staffing shortages are a work design issue that can lead to "feelings of being bullied at work", while rejecting that a manager's conduct amounted to bullying.

Refusing to make the stop-bullying orders sought by a Woolworths bakery employee, Commissioner Sarah McKinnon noted much of the conduct she complained of was reasonable management action.

The employee filed her application with the Commission in August 2025, contending she'd been subjected to a pattern of unreasonable behaviour by a store manager and an assistant store manager.
