Flexibility not enough; employees expect "caring" workplaces too

Employers shouldn't assume that low voluntary turnover rates mean they're under less pressure to enhance their employee benefits, a new report on best practices and emerging trends suggests.

Voluntary turnover rates in Australia have steadily declined in recent years, and currently stand at 11.9% – the lowest since 2021, according to Mercer's 2025 Australian Benefits Review, released today.

"With turnover rates stabilising, some organisations may assume this reflects employee satisfaction," the report says.
