FWC orders mediation for employee and manager who need to "modify their behaviour"

In ruling that workplace bullying occurred, the Fair Work Commission has also noted that many of the employee's concerns about his manager would likely be resolved if he changed his own behaviour.

Issuing stop-bullying orders, Commissioner Stephen Crawford encouraged the employee to "reflect on why he is clashing with various managers" and whether he could change to help reduce workplace conflict.

The NBN Co field engineer's stop-bullying application raised nine allegations against his manager, who started in the role in July last year.

He alleged the manager had unreasonably accused him of failing to perform duties for several hours without explanation, and of not taking a call when he was on standby. He also complained about disciplinary action taken against him, regarding a callout and a rostered day off...
