FWC upholds refusal of WFH request, orders "compromise"

It was reasonable for an employer to refuse a fully-remote flexible work request, the Fair Work Commission has found, in ordering a compromise agreement.

Commissioner Alana Matheson found the employer had reasonable business grounds for requiring some office time from the employee, but she wasn't satisfied it needed her to attend twice a week, as it argued.

The Commission heard that in early 2024, after acquiring a number of new businesses, Reapit Employment Services sought to roll out a standard business model across its group of companies.

As part of this, it required all employees to work at least partly from their local office...
