Leaders accountable for First Nations workforce targets in new RAP

Australian Red Cross has deepened its commitment to First Nations inclusion with its fourth Reconciliation Action Plan, which specifically holds leaders accountable for meeting workforce targets.

When the organisation's third RAP was nearing its end in 2021, the CEO and board were concerned that 12 of its 61 actions hadn't yet been met, director of First Nations centrality Jenny Brown tells HR Daily.

A review found a shortcoming of its implementation was infrequent progress reporting, which resulted in a lack of accountability to the board and executive, and deliverables that were slipping or missed.

The new Reconciliation in Action RAP, however, tightens governance and increases reporting to ensure "nothing falls though the gaps", Brown says...
