When employees at risk of burnout start managing their energy, as opposed to their time, their performance can "skyrocket", an organisational psychologist says.
Employers invest a lot of money in time management training and the like, "but you can't time-manage your way out of exhaustion", according to Inventium founder Dr Amantha Imber.
Energy management "sits at the foundation of how well people are performing at work", she tells HR Daily.
"No one's performing at their best when their battery's at 2%," she explains. "But if you can get people managing their energy, then their performance on all dimensions is going to skyrocket..."
