Mindset management crucial to burnout prevention

Even though most employers have come to see employee wellbeing as a shared responsibility, a key pillar is missing from their approach, a mindset specialist says.

The fundamental pillars for surviving and thriving – good food, proper sleep and exercise, and healthy relationships – have been well researched, and the best practices are largely understood, according to coach, business founder and author Mark Jones.

Despite this, it's "no secret" that burnout remains a problem, and Jones suggests organisations and leaders are at risk of overlooking the fifth pillar necessary to survive and thrive sustainably at work – how employees manage their mindsets, including through the stories they tell themselves.

Jones believes that we're all "the master storytellers" of our lives, and have the power to "re-author" our stories and make meaning, but he also warns of limiting beliefs...
