Misaligned leaders undermine strategic workforce planning success

Many organisations are now attempting to plan their right workforce for "tomorrow", when they haven't even reached a consensus on what they need today, according to experts in the field.

"I can tell you now, from every customer out of the hundreds that we've worked with, no one's had the right workforce 'today'," eQ8 co-founder Alicia Roach told the ATC 2025 Impact conference late last year.

"When we go in and look at it, it's not right, it's not aligned to their value chain, it's not aligned to the activity… but the assumption is that it is," Roach said.

In her view, only after an employer right-sizes its current workforce can it say: "Okay, this is what we need, [and] this is what we have. How do we bring the two together?"...
