"Predatory" director to pay $176k after harassment and assault

A director showed "reckless disregard" for an employee when he engaged in predatory conduct "for his own wanton gratification", and must now pay her $176k in damages and costs.

His actions represented a "serious and gross violation of [the employee's] person and her right to be free from sexual harassment", Queensland Industrial Relations Commission Deputy President Catherine Hartigan found.

The employee claimed the director breached the State's Anti-Discrimination Act when he sexually harassed her in August 2019. She sought compensation for pain and suffering, noting she had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the incident, as well as an order for costs...
