Stakes are higher with senior-level role rotations, but so are the returns

Cross-functional role rotations are most often utilised to develop junior talent, but their benefits make them worth considering for senior leaders, an HR specialist says.

A primary benefit of role rotations and secondments is the skill diversification that comes from exposing talent to different departments, people, and ways of working, says Karen Frenkiel, the senior manager of Pitcher Partners' people and change team.

That exposure can change a leader's lens on the business and how they operate; it can add to their skillset, challenge them, prevent stagnation, and aid retention, she tells HR Daily.
