Amid increasing reports of burnout, a positive psychology specialist is calling on employers to take a strengths-based approach to redesigning work.
AI implementation is causing employees to experience both cognitive overload and low autonomy, the combination of which is "a really strong risk factor" for burnout, says Bendelta senior manager Kirsty Harvison.
A strengths-based approach to work design, on the other hand, is associated with a decreased risk of burnout, and higher engagement, she tells HR Daily.
"We're more likely to be energised by our work rather than dragging ourselves through the motion of it and feeling really weighed down."
It makes sense, therefore, to give employees more agency around what work they'd "get rid of" if they could, Harvison says...
