Suspected contract breaches warrant six-month employment restraints: Court

An employer has a reasonably arguable case that a former employee breached his contract's confidential information and post-employment terms, the Federal Court has ruled in imposing interlocutory restraints.

Broadband Solutions claimed its former IT support engineer, who it hired in September 2022 to help establish a managed services division, breached the clauses in his employment agreement related to its confidential information and intellectual property, and the prohibition on working for a competitor.

It also claimed he contravened section 183 of the Corporations Act, which prohibits employees from improperly using their employer's information to gain advantage for themselves or someone else...
