"The new question that needs to be asked" of senior leaders

Most leaders have no trouble listing their top five financial priorities or KPIs, but their psychosocial safety responsibilities call for a new question, a culture specialist says.

The area most organisations are grappling with when it comes to psychosocial safety is the role that middle managers play, Bendelta leadership and change practitioner Kirsty Harvison says.

As HR Daily reported in this article, Harvison says it's crucial for managers to understand that attending to psychosocial safety is now part of their role. However, this will only happen if senior leaders make it clear that it's a priority.

"If you ask a senior leader, 'What are your top five financial priorities?' or 'What are the five things you're doing to achieve your business plan?', they are pretty good at working that out," Harvison says.

Therefore, the "new question that needs to be asked" is, "What are your top five psychosocial safety risks in your team?"...
